well one of my male steins (on left) spawned with the biggest female (on right) on friday[see picture below]. video isnt the greatest, spawning behavior lasted about 2 and a half hours and i counted about 8 eggs, i wasnt able to watch the whole thing. at 0:52 seconds of the first video you can see the female drop about 3 eggs and suck em up :P

second video is an update of the whole tank. one of my balzini got stuck between a rock over night and died, so im down to two balzinis :( . at 1:31 of the video shows a good shot of the female holding eggs a day after the spawn.

i also have a question, should i buy an extra 10 gal for the female holding eggs? or should i just let her do her thing in the main tank? the first spawn between the same male and the second female wasnt a success so im not sure how this one will go. what do you think?

i think your chances of raising the fry will be much greater if you can stick them in a 10g away from any other potential predators

ima have to look around for a 10 gal kit tomorrow. how would i go about netting her out with out stressing her out to much? would she release the eggs if i try to net her out?

you can get fine nets so if she drops a few eggs they will still be there - make the tank bare bottom and add a sponge filter (they are great for fry as they will feed off the sponge) some sort of fake plant is a good idea too for the fry to hide in and around once they become free swimming however this is not essential.

when you are netting her out try and transfer into a tub all under water so she is never exposed to the air - it will reduce stress and she hopefully wont drop any eggs - good luck and keep us posted!!!!

There nice so you should be looking at some good fry.

^ thanks everyone. im in the process of setting up a 10 gal for the fry. i got them tumbling in the main tank and you can already see their eyes. i have about 20+ wigglers with yoke. tomorrow they turn one week old :D

Hey these are the fry ive seen you posting about. Any pics? Would be sweet to an update.

ive got some pretty crappy pics of them in their tumbler... tomorrow i will be filling their 10 gal just for them to grow out with some silver dollars and german rams. but they are 1 week old and already starting to swim on their own. already can see there little eyes
