I just picked up five red hump 'geos' from Jeff Rapps. Haven't kept this species in 20+ years, but when I saw how personable they were I figured they'd be perfect dithers for some of my pike cichlids.

The "alpha" male is really a clown!!! Lot's of fun even if very common. Enjoy!!

Nice! I love steiny's!! I see myself keeping a tank of of them in the new future. I also have total crush on firemouths... (< common I know, but both species are so underrated, colorful and personable)

BTW, the Crenicichla multispinosa in your avatar in BEAUTIFUL.. ;) yours?

I'm jealous, I have been thinking about ordering some of those from Rapps. Very nice fish!

Hi Justin,
Yes, you really need to keep some of these, they are a lot of fun. Reminds me of when I used to have them so many years ago!
The fish in the avatar is not mine, but I do have a trio of Crenicichla multispinosa. Thanks!

Very nice, and good idea to use them as dithers for multis. Will have to give them a try sometime.

Thanks, and yes they are really working out well. The two males hate each other, but there is plenty of room for them to move around. Plenty of visual barriers in the tank, too. Fun fish!!
