hi guys,

im interested in getting a Red Isletas for a setup i have planned, i have had the seller in contact, know which specimen i would get having, but no idea what id be letting myself in for.

I can honestly find next to no info upon researching these beautiful monsters.

Only that there aggressive, and yet on another forum owners of these fish have all said they have had no problems with aggression, i think i saw one that said theres was aggressive|
Im presuming, being a cousin on RD's and mida's that they would get to around the same size, and im guessing on lifespan of 15 years too. So any advice would be a real help?

The specimen im looking to purchase is a young male, a huge kok already, very red around the face, so a perfect one for me. Id just like to know a little more about them before setting it into stone.

Thanks Again guys

They are a smaller yet aggressive version of the barred Midas. They have beautiful reddish/pink colors in the face and the females at spawning time tend to have their whole body turn this color. Even at a young age they still get a very large nuchal hump. Mine are great parents and are working on their 5th spawn. The 2 of them took on my 13" WC devil and won. My male is about 8" the female 6".

They are an awesome looking Amph that will soon become highly thought after, just like the Hogaboomarum.

Enjoy him.

brilliant thanks for that.... what sort of eventual size will he achieve? would it be the same tankmate rules as RD's? i was thinking some silver dollars, maybe some tiger barbs whilst he's small?
