I have a hyper aggressive Red Isletas male (about 4") and I just got a 3" female from Jeff Rapps.

I currently have them in a divided 60 gallon. My question is, how long should I keep the divider in to hopefully "make" them a pair?

Right now, as he approaches the divider (egg crate), she swims away. :banher:

What I've done with my pairs (that I'm afraid of losing the female) is use egg crate as a divider. In the egg crate I would cut out hole/squares that are small enough for the female to swim in and out of to her own side of the tank... these holes are too small for the male. Once he becomes "Ike Turner"... she swims thru to a safe haven. It worked really well for my RTM's and has trained them to get a long.... divider is still in place even though they've become bonded.... never too careful!
