I got back from Mexico a couple hours ago and finished acclimating and treating 17 Red Istlanum from Rio Amacuzac, near Ixtla. The fish are awesome, and by far the most colorful of any Istlanum. I will post pics, of the Red Istlanum, in the afternoon. Now I need lots of sleep and rest. On a quick note, collecting Istlanum was very difficult, but doable, as I did get 17 pcs. The frustrating part, that 99% of the time we threw the cast net in, it came back out with introduced Convict Cichlids and GREEN TERRORS! Both these guys were every freakin where, and was so annoying, and sad. You could see the convicts, green terrors and istlanum, fighting it out for the best spots in the river. Anyway will post pics by noonish L.A. time.

Here are some pics, again, I am NOT good at taking pics, of fish in tanks. The fish are very skittish and stressed, and are not in anyway near the color they were when freshly taken out of the river. The red is on the throat and chest and belly are, the strongest, with some red on its sides along with spangling. The body base color is a strong yellow. Very impressive, very beautiful. Some of the larger males had slight nuchal humps. They are under Clout treatment at moment. They are very shy and are all trying to hide behind the same rock. Will add more rocks and hope the relax a bit soon. This type is from Rio Amacuzac, and are under high competion with palgues of Convict cichlids and Green Terrors, that were released into this system and breeding like rats.
