red jewel cichlid questions

So my work wants me to set up a tank. I going to use my old 46 g bow front. Years ago (10+) I had some red jewels and they were awesome, well at least from what I can remember. If I did a sand bottom, three dojo loaches, five jewels, and a school of a larger tetra could this work? I don't want a tank in our waiting room where the jewels are killing all the other fish and each other. Thanks

IME, I wouldnt house 5 jewels in the same 46g tank... these little things are so aggressive!

ok in that case if they are really that aggressive looks like i need a new fish

They are really aggressive if two pairs up and start breeding, otherwise they're only moderately aggressive. Like Convicts.
