Hello,
I have a pair of Red jewels generally
how would you sex these?
both are completely red
one has a completely blue spotted
body, and one has barely any spotting at all.

I dont know....I had a pair before and both looked exactly the same. They breed like crazy though

Females are slightly round in belly males tend to have larger jaws but you'll have to view several specimens to know exactly how to tell genders.

Good luck with breeding them! I heard they get pretty aggressive when they're in breeding mode, so I hope you don't have other fishes in the same tank. And the male tends to kill his mate, so keep a close eyes on them!

crazy red in there, I have some with more turquoise, they have laid eggs plenty, but they never got to hatch, I think next time I find eggs, I am going to remove them from that tank

Males have more pearling like in the 2nd pic the Male is in the back the pearls on him are much larger

loshmitchel101 i got the same questions as you do. i didn't know these were africans till today, thought they were south american.
