I introduced it to my existing com of aros.

This is 5 days later in the tank with lights on 24/7 for it.
See how the colour been enhanced further in black tank?

You may be right. But it was kinda been kept in an not so ideal kinda condition for some time. Thus all these contribute to this kinda gill plate markings.
