Actually, no. They are able to live in saltwater, brackish and pure freshwater. I'm looking at them because they're supposed to consume a large amount of nitrates, and don't grow very fast at all. They're also apparently very very easy to keep as I've learned. Been doing a lot of research. They're also VERY cheap! I got a quote for 50 18" plants for $50.

Water lettuce also, with foxtail anchored to the bottom about 2" below floating plants roots.

All 4 are free here... we're just not supposed to pick the mangroves.

Rice is another one.
