Hey,
i've been wanting a schooling fish in my tank, and went to my LFS and thought the Red Minor Tetras looked pretty sweet:headbang2 so i did some research on them. I'm probably going to get them but wanted to know if anyone could tell me if these little discrepincies would be okay...

(1) I've read that they like more stagnant water, and i have an ac30 on my 20g giving me about 7.5 turnovers/hour, it also produces a somewhat strong current right in the middle of my tank.

(2) I've also read that they can be agressive? This i'm not so worried about but still wondering. They'll be going in with: x1 Rainbow Shark, x1 Acei Cichlid, and x1 Golden Wonder Killie. I was thinking about 5 so i don't think aggression will be a problem, again just wondering.

I kept 7 in a 75 with some cichlids., and loved them., they didnt have any problem with the current.,., i use a korelia 3.,., in fact i loved to watch them play in the stream.,., didnt really notice anything along the lines of aggression.,., theyd chase some ghost shrimp around.,., but never ate or killed one as far as I know.,,., theyre fairly active.,., so they add alot of life to the tank.,.,

sweet! i'm assuming it sort of depends on the fish you get, for instance i did research on a paradise fish and read that they were agressive too, but said screw it they looked awesome and bought one, and he ended up being very peaceful.

so i'll most likely be picking them up on friday!! hopefully that stupid infection that my shark has is cleared up by then, or i'll have to wait:(

as long as theyre the little guys in the tank.,., theyre just gonna shoal up and live happy.,.,. I started with 3 and added more a couple at a time.,., as soon as they hit the water,., they head straight for the group.,., kinda fun to watch

yeah they will be by like 2 inches... rainbow shark i think will be about 4" and cichild about 5", killie would be the only thing but he's always at the surafce

Do you think they would leave 2 otos alone?

yeah no prob... everyone leaves otos alone. red minors (or serpae more commonly known) are great little community tetras, get along with anything and should be fine if the killie doesnt cause too much grief.
