I don't think this is normal. Please check out the Red Spots or Patches on my SD. He has had them a while. Not sure if this is normal. My other SD had them ages ago they are gone.
I have 2 XL SD (6in round, not including tail)
Is he sick? Does he need meds?

he has some scratch marks on his left side, my aggressive BB was just removed from the tank. This guy was picked at.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!

Some red markings from territorial disputes are normal but this is excessively red and does not look normal indeed.
I'm sure someone will jump in and tell us what it is!
Good luck!

I have 5 red hook SDs. One of them has red spots (it's hook is also shaped differently than the other red hooks, so I think its a different type of red hook, but not sure).

When it's spots first started coming in I got kinda paranoid thinking they might be sores/etc (because none of the other dollars had it). I PM'ed BogwoodBruce (since he has experience with SDs) several months back with pictures asking if it was normal, and he said it was. So I haven't worried about it since.

I dont see any spots in your first picture, but the 2nd one looks KIND OF similar to my dollars' red spots (but its hard to tell, not great quality pics).

When I get home tonight I'll try to post a pic of my dollar to show you what im talking about.

yes my patches look very similar. My red hook SD only has them on the top 1/2 of his body.
I didn't think to add in my first post that he is a red hook.

Thanks SO much for your info
