:WHOA: I just discovered today that my Red Peacock is holding eggs in her mouth. I would like to hear some advice from any experienced peacock breeders. I have a 3 gallon tank that I wouldn't mind putting the fry in until they get a little bigger. I'm also arranged to buy a 125 gallon next week that I could use to move some fish out of to let her have her space.

Right now the tank she is in is a 29 gallon with 2 other females and a male. All the fish are around 4 inches. Water conditions are great and the temperature is around 78 degrees.

Anyone have any advice for me?

dont stress her out..so she wont swallow any eggs..after about 20 days since the day she started holding catch her and take her out(usally the hardest part). use stick or something soft to open her mouth and rinse the babies out of her then after that you can throw the female back in the tank.

opps sorry slowly introduce the female back in with the male...some males might be to agreesive and force her into breeding agian and might possibly kill her..try like a breeders net then drop her in after a few days just for her safety

Yeah well I was going to buy a 125 gallon tank so I moved my tank to the other side of the room and put my fish into a 5gallon bucket and she swallowed them. Any idea how long they should take to respawn?

Oh, and the tank turned out to be a piece of crap. The stand was about 3ft off the ground so I would have had to get on my knees to look at them. The guy told me there were two filters that came along with it and he tried giving me this dinky little 20 gallon filter. The metal was rusted and he was gonna give me a shop light with "aluminum foil to reflect the light".

So I drove almost 100 miles there and back to buy a cherry coke and to lose some babies. :(

The soda was good though.
