red peacock male?

Just was wondering thoughts about the sex of this one. fish is about 2" long right now and showing some red, but not sure about horomones being used. Got him at a fairly good LFS. Tip of dorsal fin was damaged.

Thoughts/Opinions? Too early to be showing some color?

Could be a colorful female. I had one until it died. But who knows until that tail colors up a little more and the blue face comes in.
