Hey everyone!

I had a question about a "Red Rose Queen." Saw one of these at my pet stores today. Obviously it was a male since it was displaying a kok. Also, this sucker was absolutely MEAN. I mean, it would chase you if you walked by the tank. I have never seen anything like it. Not only that, but its color was absolutely beautiful.

I'm just confused on what a Red Rose Queen actually is? I have googled, and searched (forgive me for my searching on these forums is below par), but to no avail.

Can anyone help me determine what this fish is?

Found this while doing some reading a few days ago

It's a mix between synspilum and labiatus. I have a 9-10" female rose queen that I raised from 1" and it's one of my favorite fish. Amazing color, big nuchal hump, yellow eyes, and great personality. They look just like synspilums until 3-4" then they start looking amphilophus and peel into their true color.

What is Kamfa? Also, is it bad if I know neither of those two fish she is talking about.. :P

Kamfa is a strain of flowerhorn. Amphilophus labiatus is a Red Devil Cichlid and vieja Synspilum is a Redheaded Cichlid. Its not bad but it wouldn't hurt to learn about them.

Ah, now I understand. I suppose I just didn't realize their scientific names.

One more question: I was doing some research on what Kamfa exactly was, but to no avail. All I could gather was that it is certain traits such as: clear eyes. The Red Rose Queen that I was looking at appeared to have red eyes.

I do understand that crossbreeding plays a major game, I suppose it is just a lot to take in, in a short amount of time! Thanks for helping!

My understang is that they are a mix of labiatus and synspilum. Here's a pair I had going back a few years. Sometimes the male would display more red and other times a lighter color. They had the amphilophus personality and were always active.

The pair can be seen in this vid at times.

Wow, amazing fish! Your green terror may be one of the nicest I have ever seen! I too have also wanted a Dovii.

And about the Queen, that does look like the ones I saw. They were sale for $25 and they did have a male and female. What size did they start breeding for you?
