red sea berlin airlift 90 skimmer

i know this could be in the fresh section but im putting it in the salt anyway

i recently bought a red sea berlin airlift 90 protein skimmer as i am going to be turning my 90 gallon into a saltwater tank and ive found two problems

it is not producing any skim

and it doesn't fit properly in my tank
it says to submerge it until the water level is at the mark and just put it on the side of the glass but the glass brace thing at the top is in the way and i have to have it on an angle.

just wondering

skimmers don't work in FW. Why should this be posted there?

The angle thing shouldn't be much of a problem as long enough skimmate makes it to the cup

How strong is the air pump that you have running it, most skimmers require a pretty strong air pump. How long has the tank been set up and how long have you had the skimmer on the tank.

also..

new skimmers need a break in period.. usually 1 week IME..

if the pump (for the skimmer) has a venturi attachment.. i'd use that instead

so it doesn't work with fresh?
thats ok then, once i get it converted to salt
(hopefully in a week, no im not going to rush)
ill put it in the sump, if i have one of course=)
