Hey guys. I'm trying to add a ten gallon sump to my red sea max 130d and I'm having a hell of a hard time. I've built an overflow that isn't as quiet as I would like but the problem becomes flow regulation. I've picked up the proprietary attachment for running lines in and out but the pumps I have are pumping more than the overflow system can bring in. I thought it was the mag5 I was using, but a 240gallon per hour pump gave me the same problems.

I'm trying to make this thing silent as well as effective. The sump that comes in the thing will most likely be replaced for an in-sump skimmer, but I need to regulate water height in the tank as well. Attached are stock photos of what I'm working with, the dual u-joint piece fits in at the top next to where the return lines are.

Anyone have experience with this or idea's?

Thanks and swim on!

What type of overflow did you make? I'm a bit confused.

This is what I was using. It allows for a half inch tube to be ran from the double u-joint into this, and as it filled it would flow out the side into the sump. The problem here is keeping it high enough to maintain water level.

On the noise end, I'd absolutely love to go with the aforementioned goodies. I don't think I can attach them to the without reconstructing it however.

That looks like a dish washer fitting for under the sink. It allows the dishwasher to drain into the waste water down pipe. If you are pumping through the 1.25" and wanting the water to exit out that .50" hose barb, it's not likely to happen...It is acting like a venturi, probably...do you have a shot of the inside of that pipe? (the large end)

1/2" tubing will only flow about 150gph, so that explains why your pump was still too much for the tank. I would look and making/getting at least a 1" overflow for your tank.
