So I was feeding my guys today and the 2 Severums come rushing up to the front of the tank.

I look at the both of them and yup one of them is missing a fin. I can only see a little nubbin where it used to be. I know it was the smaller Sev that did it, but the question is will it grow back?

I know torn fins will mend, but never seen a fish with a whole fin missing. Will that grow back?

I saw the same thing on one of my tetras. But it's gone gone no trace if it. Your fish might grow it back but it will take a very long time for it to fully regrow. No meds just extra clean water.

Worrying about something that hasn't happened yet is a waste of time. He's eating fine, swims fine and doesn't look like he's stressed. Worse comes to worse the culprit will be donated to my friends 240g tank.

Chances are the other severum didn't bite and rip the fin off, but more likely he ran when he got punked and got it snagged on the driftwood.

Sure don't want to give one up, they're so beautiful.

Unheard of.

All I'm saying is that you should keep a very close eye on them. If another fish pulled it off, it's not going to stop.

In all seriousness though, some Melafix and time will heal him up nicely.

Eyes on my tank and a solitary confinement box/breeder box on the ready for the culprit/aggressor.

I doubt it's any of the other fish in the tank that could have torn the fin off. I have 5 IT datnoids that are 1.5-2.5" head to tail length, they fight amongst themselves. The biggest I have in the tank is a 5" jardini and as I've observed he's been breaking up most of the fights between the severums.

If the fin doesn't grow back his new name will be lefty ><.
