a lfs has a red sevrum for sale for 80 bucks thats about 6 inches. and how many severums could i keep in a 55 gal

You could have a couple in a 55. Would they be the only fish?

yes i was thinking 2 or 3 severums and maybe a pleco

Just, two would be fine pal :) As for the plec, that'll be fine too (Just make sure it's an L and not a common, as they get huge!!)

yea i used to have a 14in common pleco and a 12in common that i brought to my lfs and the guy wanted to kill me cuz they were big but he had told me he would take them b4 he saw them but if i get a 6in severum and then a smaller one about 3 in would they be fine

It depends on their personalities. I have some who get along great and some who try to kill each other the second I put them in the same tank. I have two female severums who I have to keep alone because they attack any other severum I mix them with.

IMO the severums will end up being too big for the 55 gallon unless they are unusually small. I got rid of two males on Tuesday that were 10" and thick, and the ones I kept are even bigger. I couldn't imagine them in a 55. So be prepared to upgrade them in the future if they grow large.

They Will be fine for a couple years. They are very slow growers. But 60$ for a red sev?! Jesus thats crazy

Agree, two in a 55g are fine. Even adult Severums IMO. (and a non com.pleco)

However....80 bucks!!! Even though I don't know the prices in your country, It still sounds A LOT!!!

Oh, and if you are getting the 6 in Sev, make sure the second is not much smaller!!!

Do the line-bred reds stay any smaller than others? Just curious. I know some of these tank bred color variant fish can be smaller... Like EBJD.
