i noticed for awhile there are small redish brown spikes sticking out of my oscars butt. they are always sticking out but sometimes they move in or more out of it.

i just threw in 3 parasite clear tablets in yesterday but they are still there and its really annoying. i removed the carbon too.

my oscar has always been the only fish to have it and there are no other ailments in my tank so its a domestic case.

what the hell are they?? i cant ever get a good picture of them.. so sorry for the lack of that.

hmmm.. they don't look like that though. same color. same thickness (maybe). but the ones in my oscar are less than 1cm and just look like two or three stiff spikes (but its underwater, behind a glass. so don't know for sure).

kinda remind me of those sticky thorny seeds that come off of certain lawn weeds. but only part of them are showing. i cant find ultra cure PX. no clue how to apply it either :(

well, i finally got a decent picture of it (i hope it comes out on MFKs reduced quality).

after a 25% water change, i added 3 more tablets and it seems that all my fish except the arowana and plecos were gasping for air, even had it to the point that my O'opu was turning red under its throat so i did an emergency extra water change to reduce chemical volume. no clue why it happened though they were fine on the first dose.

but after the change before i did a second change the water was extremely cloudy and warm after i put the tablets in. those damn red needles are still sticking out of my oscars ass and won't budge!! the meds were seemingly suffocating my cichlids but the red needles soldier on in there... why? i saw one of the things floating by this morning but it got sucked into the filter so i couldnt grab a pic. it kinda has a suction cup at the end, its in the shape of a Y like an anchor worm but much smaller and red.

here are some pics of the endeavor.

Note: All that long stringy crap might have come out of the oscars butt (most likely). maybe an hour or less after i put the 3 parasite tablets into the tank as a second dose, i came back upstairs to a cloudy tank looking liek this, it was pristine and clear just before this.. and white stringy, bubbly substances were also leaking from the red appendages.

Is that poop on the bottom?

yea. i added to the post above explaining it.

One fish did not make ALL of that poop..And if it did, it is either overfed, or you need to step up the gravel vacs.

I see the spike thing now in the last pic...I doubt it is anything to worry about.
