If memory serves me correct, the tag at the LFS said red spot Goby.He has facial patterns like a green Severum, and it has a few red spots on it's body and dorsal fins,i say fins cause theres a split. And this guy is VOR-A-CIOUS,he was in the tank 1 hour and was snatching pellets,i can tell he's gonna be a good eater.Funny thing is,is that when i do my usual I.D. for fish(Google Image) i came up with no matches to what i have!!!!!!! And do these guys have to go into full salt? I hope not,i'm STRICTLY FW.But for this first-time specimen i'll re-think stuff:):):):)

Ok,so i found out i definatley have a Purple Spotted Gudgeon........i don't need to find out what it eats for it is a pig:D. but what about Breeding and tankmates,i want to get like 10 more for these are my first Goby or Goby-like fish:) Thanks. Also my first Native Australian!!!!!

I think it might be this,"Purple-Spotted Gudgeon"
....why would they call it a Goby at the LFS?
Mogurnda mogurnda is a sleeper goby (family Eleotridae). Sleeper gobies differ from true gobies (family Gobiidae) by having separate as opposed to fused pelvic fins. Other than that, they are morphologically similar and are thus considered gobies. "Gudgeon" is just Australian for "goby."

I've kept Mogurnda mogurnda before. They will readily spawn for you, as mine did.

How big do they get,and do they fight each other if i want to get like 5 or more? Can other ones live un-beaten up in the tank during breeding? Thanks

They max out around 7 inches. They are territorial, but not to the point where they thrash tankmates. I had no problems keeping other fish with mine during breeding. Of course, I never saw any fry because tankmates invariably ate the eggs. Here's the fishbase.org profile on the species:

Very cool fish, IMO.
