I have a 6" red spotted severum and I been trying to figure out if its male or female. Is sexing the severum like sexing a flowerhorn by looking at the vent tube. Any info will be help full.

From what I know about green severums, Males have worm like markings on their face and their dorsal and anal fins are longer and more filamentous.

Sure thing. Mine are the all orange variety, are they all the same species? I have seen them called different names.

The reds are harder to sex the the greens. I have had reds befor the only way to sex is to vent. the markings on the face are on both males and females and the fins are never a exact ID for them.
