I just started up a predator tank that is 55 gallons and was looking to find some predators for it. so far I have a JD and a Jag. I was wondering if I could add a small redtail barracuda to the tank. If not what other predators would make good additions.

a 55 gallon is really too small for a red tailed barracuda, I have one in a 125 right now and am planning to upgrade it to a 300 in the next few months and get some more, with a 55 gallon it will probablly be slamming up against the glass all the time, and there so fast it can kill them, you relly need a bigger tank for the JD and the Jag too, I wouldnt get any more fish until you can upgrage to a much larger tank

Um, that tank is overstocked already..:( Iv'e seen jags well over a foot. That jags probibly going to kill the JD soon too.

Not only is a 55 too small for an acestro, but you don't wanna put one with your jag and JD. They'll kill it.

Acestros are pure lightning fast predators, they are not fighters. If you put one with those cichlids it's gonna die.

I would say most cichlids, unless significantly smaller, will harass these fish. They are fast enough to get away, but at night they might parish.

I had a couple of red tails in a 55 gallon for about six months they were fine, i do agree i would put the jag somewhere eles i keep mine for raiseing feeders in a 55 by them selves. I have however moved them to a 200 with my other fish. look @ my gallery.
