I am thinking of getting some brycon, but I don't know much about them. I was thinking of keeping a group of maybe 5. I kept 3 dorados and two teamed up on one, then the remaining two fought each other. Looking for some basic info, and such just post away! Thanks in advance.

Yes, Swimming space is very important with Brycons, The more space, means more breathing room. In a small, crammed tank, they would become agitated and kill each other over space.
FYI, wholesalers keep these fish in individual tanks, even though they have dozens of them. They do NOT get along in small groups or with silvery characins. I don't know about larger groups, but I would imagine if South American wholesalers keep these guys separate, that probably doesn't work out so well either.
If you have a suitable sized tank a small group can be kept, It also depends on the species. Some Brycon, Dentex and Whitie ar very aggresive were as others like Hilari are not so.
