They don't slow down until they're a couple of feet at which point they have to put a lot of girth on aswel as gaining length, so of course this takes time.

They can grow till a couple of feet

2 - 3 inches per month even faster if u feed them regularly all depends on tank size water quality and feeding

Never if there given enough space....as in a 12' diameter pool/pond or even larger setup. If confined in a 4'x8' footprint they will stop at 24-30" almost indefinetly (stunt) until given more room.
