Red Tail Catfish COLOR?

when does a red tail catfish get its red tail? what shuld be fed to speed up the process of geting its color? what enhances its color? bloodworms, shrimp, hikari pellets... wuts best?

and what to do, so they wont be so shy and hiding all the time... i have a rtc 4" long... my first little rtc

All i can tell u man is u need to wait till he is comfortable. Mine ate out of my hand the day after I got him. He will come out sooner or later because when my rtc is hungry its a show cuz he swims e erywhere lookin for food. U might also wanna temp him with a red worm or a third of a nightcrawler.

I hear shrimp works wonders, but bloodworms won't do anything for them so I'm not sure about that.

wuld u happen to kno wut lenght it has to be for its tail to turn red?

Normally it happens around 8" ... that's what I hear anyway. My RTC is just over 8" and his tail is getting a lot more red.

In my experience, 10-12" is when it really becomes noticeable.

Well, I feed Pepper a lot of shrimp so maybe this confirms the shrimp red tail connection.

yep. thanks for the info. just need to find away to make him grow faster haha probly the opposite of most red tail cat owners. dont they grow 1 inch a week or something?
