hi i have 2 rtc around 2.5 inches long in a 10 gallon aquarium. i need to know how long will it take them to reach around 4-5 inches and the best food to speed up their growth rate because i cannot put hem in my 55 gallon since there is 8 inch bichir which would probably eat them out now if i put them in the big tank now. also the 2 rtc have started to eat less could it be because they are in a small tank. don't worry about the future since they will be going to 500 gallon pond and after hopefully 2k pond

With proper diet and husbandry, expect about 2" per month growth.
That's a commonly cited number. It is averaged over roughly the first year in your tank. Some months you can get 3", even 4", others, 1" or less. They usually grow in spurts. IDK if this growth is that fast in the wild. Probably not. Hence, this can be classified as some sort of "power feeding"/"chasing growth". Maybe.

Very good to know! I couldn't imagine a fish putting on 4" in a month! That is wicked fast growth.

No one will believe this but my RTC is pushing 19" and i estimated he is 6 months old. My buddy bought him at 4" and had him just over 4 months. It got to 18"(measured outside the tank) in his tank and now its 19" in mine. With lots of water changes and a good diet, it can be done and quickly.

Make filtration is good. Get the pellet trained. It will be easier latter on. I had on grow from 2 to 5 inches in less than a month on shrimp. Everyday he looked a little bigger until he reached about 12th he's then slowed down. He grow about 26 inches in 1.5 years.

Mine grew to 22 inches in about a year n half, he was in a 200 gallon tank and ate like a king (used to work at seafood restaurant and anytime stuff went old he got food) any way he out grew a 200 a 55 won't last too long for a rtc let alone two
