hi people. ever heard of people eating RTC MEAT??? like in ure home country, they have dark meat which is highly unusual. anyone eaten it before? i wana know how it tastes...especially steamed in soya sauce...mmmmmm yummy

I had a friend who ate his after it outgrew his tank. Also have read articles that natives in south america eat them all the time. Some say it tastes like pork. There are rumors that the meat is toxic, but I doubt it if everyone is eating it lol. My neighbor agrees that it tastes like pork. I would never eat a tank raised fish, but the more power to ya!
I've heard they breed them for food in South America and the young that are sold in lfs often come from these farms. The meat is definitely not poisonous as I've seen large RTC's for sale in Manaus markets as food.
I wouldn't recommend eating any aquarium fish as it has probably been medicated at some point and the medications aren't certified for food animals and just might do something nasty!

i've heard it was toxic too. even if it isn't it isn't too sought after because of the color and i heard the taste wasn't great either. also heard a rumor that that's why they hybredize em with about everything. because they get big and when hybredized they're more palatable.
