Hello everyone i currently have a medium/lardge size tank not HUGE! Well planted external filter and four 4-5" Red Bellies!

I saw some Red Tail Catfish 3-4" maybe 4-5" the other day at my local fish store and im in love :D i know they become MASSIVE and eat other fish i was just wondering if anyone knew any more on the subject?

As to date nothing has lasted more than a week with the red bellies, they are extreemely healthy and well looked after.

Any information or input would be awsum,

Cheers RaBzZ!

I currently have a seperation in the tank with 6x guppies, 3x platies, 3x loaches and about 30+ red cherry shrimp.

Id love to have the catfish in with the pirahnas but i dont think it would work?

WHat do you guys think?

I'm no expert but I have kept red bellies that size and I'm guessing they will pick and nip at a RTC that small till it dies and if he does somehow survive he will most likely outgrow your tank quickly creating a whole big batch of problems for you. I wouldnt do it.

How big is the tank? Wait it doesnt matter really the tank most likely isn't big enough for the cat and the piranhas will get him eventually

As AGonz says, if the RTC survives long enough, just a few months even, it will eat the Rb`s i reckon, they grow dam quick. another thing, it would bew difficult i recokn to feed the RTC with the RB`s getting the food first, or even vise versa. To much hard work and worry. Thats without tank size to take into account.

Try it let me know how it goes I think thats sounds like a cool idea. I have a bunch of fish people wouldnt mix but I have no problems yet...but rtc grow way to fast so I gave up n th always have to give them awy free
