Red Tail Catfish meds?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any that say they must not be used on RTCs, albeit I am not aware of such and never encountered such.

Many would say "Do not use on scaleless fish". That USUALLY means half-dose would be fine or recommended. I even used a full dose of such meds on many of my catfish (all catfish are scaleless) without any problems... but the cat should be in good water, on a good diet, and had been long healthy and vibrant beforehand (before the illness occurred).

What parasites did you kill with Melafix+Pimafix? These are very mild natural anticeptics, not anti-parasitic meds.

I see. It makes more sense IMO. I believe you but thought I'd mention that the jury is still out on whether Mela+Pima do anything at all. Many swear by them while others (very high evel experts) profess they don't do anything and the healing occurs naturally (because they are used on small superficial wounds) and if one wants an antibacteral they better use other well-known anti-bacterial meds with well-known and established action and reputation.

What meds would you recommend for scaleless fish such as rtc? They are sensitive to almost every chemical that isn't reef safe. As for melafix and pimafix as a natural cure for bacterial infections it cleared up my oscars case hith very nicely after trying all kinds of chemicals and additives for years after he developed it ( because regular water changes didn't do the trick)
