Hello, this is my first red tail , I have had him for 3 months and well to be honest is still tiny maybe 2 inches or less. I have him in a 55 gallon because my 150 gallon most of my fish are about 4 to 6 inches and are savages. I want to know why my red tail still so small. All he does is hide in his cave that I have for him. I hardly see him eat and I feed him carnivore pellets and krill and even have a bit of fish but nope hardly ever see him eat always hides. I honestly haven’t seen him grow much feel like I end up getting a dwarf red tail ☹️☹️. I clean my tank usually every 10 to 12 days. I usually do a 70 percent water change only because I like having the tank clean ?. I have a heater I keep the water at 80 degrees. I do put stress coat and water conditioner and amino but still Red seems to just enjoy hiding with my pictus catfish and red tail shark. Their all tiny little things.

any ideas ? you guys can give meof what to do with Red?

He should have been growing at least an inch a month if it is actually a red tail catfish which I’m thinking it is not also there are no dwarf red tail catfish. Could you post a picture of the fish in question?

It, is a red tail catfish trust me, I will post a picture once I get home from work. Personally it’s tiny I’m like what the heck like I feed this thing like 3 times and it seems to just hide I even turn off the lights and nope. It could be a disease that’s what I am honestly thinking. Cause all my other fish are perfectly fine . Heck I have a convict and two oscars and Jardani arowona and blood Perrot and Bichir in my 150 they all grew up in the 55 and now their getting big.

He is a 75 gallon tank, he is in with 4 angel fish and two pictus catfish and 3 silver dollars and two Ryukin goldfish and two plecos and one Albino britsnose pleco.

Cute little guy, what size tank is he in? Could be part of the problem. Paremeters? And tank mates would also be good to know and help determine the problem
Reason why I keep him in a 75 gallon with my other fish is because my 150 is full of mean fish. I got an Jardani arowona and two oscars and one Jack Dempsey and one black belt and a convict and a Bichir and a red devil their not that big yet but still their a mean bunch.
