I know these suckers get huge!I heard they get as big as their enviroment,so my question is this could they live a healthy life in a 150,or should i just forget about this whole idea or walk away.If not whats the minimum size for one.

500-600 gallons maybe more. It could live a while in a 300 but that would only be temporary.

you could probably do a 300 for some time, but smaller tanks would be very temporary.

Old wivestail... no fish only grows to it's environment you simply cut it's life short by "stunting" it's growth

Unless your planning to upgrade your tank quickly from 150 (which an RTC will outgrow within the first year easy... Then forget it... if your willing to invest into either a pond or a larger Tank... errrr MUCH larger tank... Get one.. best fish you'll ever own... like having a puppy that swims underwater LOL
