I would like to keep these beauties in the future. My father and I are planning to build a 10x10 foot indoor pond in our basement.I would like to know the care of these guys before we buy them. Thanks in advance.

They have fast growth and eat any and everything. But a very beautiful cat. They also need good water flow and current.

cudos for asking before buying..lol...they are great fish and if you can house them properly i say go for it.

I agree. It's refreshing to see someone building a proper enclosure for them and making sure they do their research first. Most just buy one and stuff it in a small tank.

+ 1 Go as big as you can cause 1 catfish is never enough lol

HI they are great cats but best kept alone or with a fish much bigger then itself it will try to consume any living animal it thinks it can eat.. as for water they do better in very clean fat moving water. ( helps avoid gill curl ).... When small they like to hide a cave is a must. Try as many different foods as you can.. ( Live only as a treat ) when small blood worms, brine shrimp cut up frozen shrimp.. when 12 plus inchs frozen fish (thawed) whole shrimp, earth worms and as a treat mouse.. in the wild they eat any thing they can get so your pet will do much better and will help with growth rate.. as they get big they tend to turn into puppies and will wait for you to feed them.. just a few tips....

there pretty hardy. just feed em what theyll eat (which is anything). they grow faster than pacu but in a 10x10 itll be sick. good luck i wish i could get one.
