Red tail cuda husbandry questions

Red tail cudas need fairly specialized care. They're exceptionally difficult to get off of live, they spook very easily, and they're very timid feeders compared to things like cichlids or most catfish.

If you're wanting to keep redtail cudas, provide them with a calm tank with enough decor to both keep them from getting spooked and to prevent them from building up too much speed, and avoid any tankmates that would outcompete them (which is basically everything lol)

It CAN be done, but it requires a focused effort on the cudas to allow it to happen. If you just drop a few into a typical MFK style community, the odds are heavily against you.

Most are sub adult when brought to the lfs. A pain to get off of live food but doable. Would attempt fish fry with smaller red cudas so as to not starve. However I’ve not anyone to keep really small cudas.

I lost 2 very big yellowtails that information was very helpful now i know low current i have very hard water flow... My vittatus and goliath tigers just started fighting with them when i woke up there tails and fins were pretty much gone and there were raised together from babies.. I got a baby vittatus in my 150 in my bedroom try to figure something good to put with him cause its just him in the big 150.. He's to small to go with the big guys in the 240...
