I love them, but I've read too many stories of death tanks. I don't really want to come home and find 5, 6 or 10 dead fish.

They appear to have great personalities and of course get really big. If I wanted a tank with just one fish or if I didn't care what it killed, I'd probably have one.

Mine is aggresive and territorial but hasnt killed anyth yet cause kept with larger species like aro and pike

Mine is just starting to hold his own.
Nobody really messes with him.
If he goes crazy he'll be a solo fish.
I love em....that's why I got one.

I hate the ugly faces on the males too - but, if I had one that turned out to be male, well, he can't help it...

I have a large pink - When young, they are great as community fish, but at any time, will eat any fish that will fit into their very large mouth. They will be the boss of the tank, no matter what.

Then, at about 6-7 inches, they start killing everything, IF, and only IF, yours is "an aggressive one." Some remain mellow.
There is no way to really predict this.
