Yes - Most are WC - do not buy WC.
Spend the money for a CB, and have proof of it feeding.
Known to be nippy, but mine was fine. Handle regularly and it will calm down.
Beautiful snakes - can be finicky feeders. They need specific conditions to stay healthy. Do your homework first.
High humidity or they will/can get a white "pimple" between the scales. As stated above try and get a CB one. Mine was WC and had problems with him. Can be nippy. Overall very cool snake to own.
Humidity is NOT easy, without avoiding the problems that come with high humidity - unless if you are experienced with this.
WC ones rarely eat, and almost guaranteed to have parasites - internal and external, and for some reason, most have skin infections as well. Not to mention the fact that collecting practices of these is very unethical.
Mine had a lot of worms. Had no problems getting mine to eat. For the first month he was real nippy after that he never bit me again. Had him for 15 years he died. He was full grown when I got him so I don't know how old he was when he died.
wow 15 years!! GJ, you must have been doing something right.
FW, I am doing my research. Lots of it. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with it. Its not like a ball python, not a ton of info out there. I want a CB but they arnt the easiest to find. Ill def get CB if i can though.
I figured these would make a sweet display snake. Im partial as most of the long time members know to green snakes and arboreals. I have been considering vine snakes for a long time but just cant find a great source of feeder anoles.
There are sources for feeder anoles in Florida - check Kingsnake.
Buying a WC just because you can't find a CB, isn't worth your money. Be patient, and spend the $ on a CB.
I am speaking from experience, which is why I know these things.
Vine snakes are much easier to maintain, if you can keep a supply of anoles going - less problems.
Vines are quite easy except for the anoles. At $2 a pop and shipping, they would run high up in cost fast. I could try breeding them I suppose. Just dont want to have to raise a seperate handful of tanks just to breed food.
I have a CB baby. Much easier then the wild caught a but still not overly easy to care for. It will only eat live food and only if it's left alone in its tank to do so. It's becoming less shy but they seem most at ease in a tank were it's rarely visible.
