I got a 7" Payara Tatt a month ago and have tried almost daily to feed him with silversides, sitting in the dark and trying to drop them near him.

My Scombs takes food like a machine daily as long as it floats infront or above him but this hasnt worked with the Tatt.

Last night tried a different method dropping a silverside in front of him and boom he took it off the sand so I am buzzing and hopefully this means he can start filling out and become a bit more active as he is so reclusive unlike my scombs which is constantly out and about

How do others get on with their Tatts eating wise and activeness wise

I hope that your fish will start to eat regularly from now on,I dont keep any payara currently but I remember back when I got my first tat and it took down a nice sized Apollo shark minutes after I released it into the tank.I was able to get it onto other foods shortly afterwards.

My old red tail took a bit of time of starving. Had some African leaf fish teach it.

That's awesome. Took me a long time to get my tat to eat non-live. That was years ago and unfortunately died a good while back. Took a few months of starving with a day every couple weeks of live, iirc.

He ate again last night and was coming to the lancefish I was putting in with feeding tongs so fingers crossed thats it for him now and I can get him fed up and into my bigger tank as hes an awesome looking thing

I love the scombs I have had for 8 months but the Tatt looks more Armatus like

I kinda hoped the Tatt would follow the lead of the Scombs I have as thats a machine for eating frozen food but he just stayed at the rear of the tank out of the way fingers crossed feeding will bring him out more

How big did you get him to?

Not very big. Got it at a decent size and made it to maybe 12 inches. i can't recall what happened to it; this was over a decade ago.
