Red tail payara

I just got a 6 inch red tail payara and I can't get him to eat.
When I got him 2 days i was told he was eating live food and white bait.
I have 3 platys in with him just now but he won't touch them any suggestions would be helpful thanks.

Try giving him some blood worms (do not thaw them that way they float and he will not be able to resist the smell)

Might take a few days most armatus I've gotten took a few days to eat so prob the same on Redtails

Its always a good idea that the LFS shows you the fish is eating. Unless you know otherwise, it could have hit their tanks the day before and they don't know the animal like they say or even fed it.
