Hi I would like to know if it would be ok to gouse a red tail catfish tiger shovelnose hybrod in a 180 my lfs says they get a max size of 2-3 ft.

So if it gets 3 feet how will it turn in a 2 foot tank?

I'd say it could be fine in the 180 gal until it reaches half of the tank's width. Then it'd be the time to start putting together an upgrade.
It'll take a while, around 4-5 years, and good care to reach 3'. It will never receive adequate care in a 180 gal and will not reach full potential.
