In all the years I have been keeping fish, I have NEVER seen a pleco get taken down....utntil last week. I have had plecos in with Pirahas and they were safe! My 13in Tigershovel nose swallow a pleco last week! WOW, they are so greddy!:nilly:

yup that what they do. lol i know a guy who had a 15" one and it ate a 12" fish. :grinno: He was like :wall:.

you need to be careful keeping fish like pleco's with cats that like to eat tankmates, the pleco and alot of other cats use there pectoral and dorsal fins like barbs and can cause serious injury and sometimes death to your greedy catfish.

Will do! now. I was suprised he did that espically after he everyone esle and not the pleco. My Piranha never even ate a pleco. When I saw him with the Pleco in his mouth, i thought he was going to choke. it took him all night to get it down, he was gagging like crazy

In my experience, my RTC is like a bulldozer - he eats anything available. The shovelnoses are the hunters, they really hit the food hard if it gets caught up in the current of the filter and seems like it's moving. But a pleco....is definitely something I would think would be safe! :O

lol i know thats right. I have had several other Cat species in my experience.. this guy is peaceful with his other tank mates ( he even comes to the top of the tank with everyone else to eat).. but if it cane even come close to fitting in his mouth, he is a master stalker hunter for sure!
