Has anyone kept these? I was thinking about getting three @ about 4 inches each, for my 150 gallon. The problem is, I'm nervous about the tankmates. They're all bigger by 2-3 inches. So here's my questions:

Would they be alright with a datnoid? How about a johanna pike cichlid? What about a spotted-pike characin? A Jade Goby?

They'd be awfully expensive feeder fish. I'm looking for insight into tank mates people have kept them with. Thanks!

It could be risky with those fish already there and set in their ways.I've had them before but not with the fish that you have.Hybridtheory was really into these very recently, contact him.

IMO It is a real risk.

These fish are super aware of there surroundings, so its not that i think they would get eaten(although it is a possibility). But because they are of a skittish nature, they can be stressed into disease very very easily.

Any time you try to pair cuda's with a established tank it is a good idea to plan on a casualty or 2. Before they settle in.

With that being said there is a member here Bomber that has just purchased some of the ones that TFD has. And he has them with an assortment of fish and doing well. Here is a vid of his tank.

TFD has a yellow tail variety in stock now for around 12 bucks a pop. And they are 3".

Just curious but what's up with the Aquaclear filters?

Alright, well the tank was in need of a major cleaning so I just used most of my day off doing that. I also took the time to rearrange some of the driftwood and rocks, so the fish are all in the process of checking out the new territories. This should be as a good as a time as any to try something.

I'll let you know if I end up trying a few of these guys. I understand the risk involved, but I'm just still contemplating giving it a go. I will post pictures and updates if I go through with it.

My only worry is the pike cichlid. He's pretty feisty.

Its just something to make you smile.:) a joke. But I do not like the filters for several several reasons. And it has allways cracked me up, that MFK has a group that would like you to beleive that they are the greatest invention of the last century.

I understand wanting them. I have probably killed more cuda's over the years them anyother MFK'er sadly from putting them in risky situations. Hell just in 2009 I have bought 18. And as of today I have 5. I allways buy them in 6's. But all of thoughs risk have yeilded me 2 of the best specimens I have ever seen.

And if they got some in at my lfs this week i would get them to.

There's only one fish I like more than my beloved Hydrolycus Tatauaia and thats cuda.

Oh,okay.I've never been a big fan of them either.I've always preferred the Penguin and Emperor filters by Marineland but they can be hard to re start sometimes. How many tats do you have now,I no longer have a trio, one was killed by one of the others.

when I had mine before I sold it, it was 8" and I kept it with a 12" jardini,15" rhino pleco. I noticed that they are very skittish and will bump their nose in the glass.

Down to Just 1 lonely Tat. Its been with me for about 3yrs now. I am trying to get some fish funds up and get 3-5 more while they are around.

He has had the company of 2 scombs for a few months now. And he doesn't like them one bit. But he leaves the hujeta shoal alone. :screwy:
