Hello. I am new here and I'm thinking about getting a Red Tailed Catfish, and yes, I fully understand they get big and they get big FAST. I've done months of research to see what taking care of them is like, and they seem like a very rewarding fish. Now on to my real question, Do hybrids grow as big or as fast? I would appreciate more info on them.

most redtail hybrids get bigger, faster. What kind of hybrid?

Hey thanks! Well, seeing how big they grow I think I'll wait till I have the money and space, for the fish's sake. In the meantime, I'll get a smaller species of catfish.

lima shovelnose only get to around 18" and they can be kept in multiples, they are active and have great personality. alot less of a tank buster, but still an out of the ordinary kind of catfish, yet inexpensive.

if youre looking for a pim, a great choice for say a 75-125 gal. tank i would say a 4 line pim, very active and fun to watch swimming. a monster catfish in a smaller body.
