Red tailed shark with a African cichlid?

Is it ok if i put my red tailed shark in my 80 gallon tank with one African cichlid?

whats the african, i've seen it done so as long as it's not hyper aggressive it should work

Id say go for it 80 g is a large tank for 2 fish unless its some crazy big aggresive african and tiny rts with zero hiding spots you should be good.

Depends what kind of african! Some would outgrow that tank solo! 8P

I have a Red Tail with @ 30 Africans in a 90 and I never have a problem with the cichlids bothering the RTS. If anything its the other way around. The alpha cichlids complerely ignore the RTS, and the Red Tail will chase around the more passive cichlids when they get in his way.

They work find, I have them in my tank and I believe as long as they are around the same size then there should not be an issue at all.

I agree with Amonra 100%. I have had a red tail with aggressive mbunas for over a year never had a problem besides the RTS chasing the more passive fish around.
