So I have 3 female red terrors and 1 male. I have had them in a 100g with a divider for about 1.5 months. The male is about 7 inches and the females about 4. A pair has finally formed, and just recently the male is always flapping its tail, swimming in circles around the female and head shaking at the female. The aggression toward the other 2 females has increased slightly, but the females still have hiding places to get away from the pair. Should I remove the other 2 females immediately? Or could the lack of competition change the bond that the pair has formed? Not quite sure what to do. I have bred convicts before but that was much more simple than this. I have done my research about breeding red terrors and I am aware that usually the pair kills the other fish. I am just unsure of when to take the other fish out. Also, I have just been reading about a temp. raise and then a sudden temp drop will promote breeding. Is this true? If you could let me know what you think on these issues that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

That is what I have been leaning towards. Just to make sure that i actually have a pair... the female is getting extremely colored up and swims slowly around the male. The male then starts head shaking like crazy and that is followed by a few big tail flaps. The female gets scared sometimes if he gets too aggressive and goes through the divider for safety. There is also gill flaring from the male too. From what I have read and seen in the past, I believe I have a pair. This has been going on for a few days now. Does this mean that I likely have a pair for life?
