MFK Nation,

I have a question about conspecific aggression regarding Red Terrors. I recently acquired 8 juveniles from beautiful wild caught parents. My plan is to raise them until they identify sex and keep the females. I have no plans on breeding as of now. I would love to end up with 3-4 amazing females, who will be housed with a jag, midas, and a few tinfoil barbs as dithers. All of this will occur in a newly acquired 125 gallon tank. My questions is will the females be aggressive toward each other, or will they coexist peacefully? Everyone will be raised together from juveniles. Will this plan work?

They may all get along as juvies but I don't think that 3 or 4 adult females would coexist. You are planning on putting a lot of aggressive fish together in a small tank for fish of this size. It would be a wonderful active tank combo but I think you will need a 8 or 10 foot tank. The longer tank would give more territory room and lessen the aggression issues.

It may work, but I would not take that bet. Female Festae can be pretty mean... good luck.

Yeah, I have been starting to notice their temperament the last few days. I think an active CA tank is one of the most impressive out there, but I'm slowly starting to notice the Festea temperament. Even these juveniles are starting to get pretty nasty. I'll let them grow until I have aggression problems, and then either pass them on or trade them in. Thanks for all of the help.

Really hard to say , i mean ussually juvies are calmer but each fish develops its own aggression pattern, its always 50/50 chance.. hope that helps
