I’m trying to find a female red terror. Found one in a store but unsure of the sex, about 3.5”.

Looks like a male, but a bit too young to tell. The iridescent dots on the dorsal and anal fin are usually male traits.
Here are a couple examples.

above a coupe females, note the lack of spots
below males, note the iridescent spots

Even when young and small though, the males sport obvious spots

Yeah I thought make because of the blue spangles.. but I’m unsure if it’s juveniles wether there’s any signs. Biggest one I’ve found recently. Can’t find any females.
 
Iridescent dots and green cheek hues usually leads towards being male...
 
Another vote for it's a male.

Plus females have that black or dark blotch in the dorsal fin.

This one don't have that at all.
