So I bought a breeding pair or red terrors that had produced a few batches of offspring. Back in September is when I got them. The female ate great after the first couple days. The male was super skiddish for a couple weeks. But the first couple days he started building a nest and has done that about 4 times. He obsesses over the female just sitting next to her cave starring at her. His attention never leaves her and he never even looks at food. I put a small jack Dempsey I had to try to distract him. That didnt work he paid almost no attention to it just kept stalking the female to no end.

I them put a big veija in the tank and now he just obsesses over him.

The previous owner said he ate only massivore waffers so I dropped $50 on that and he doesn't even look at them. Tried live grass shrimp...nothing live mosquito fish...no interest what so ever.

I am beginning to get very discouraged. I dont know what else to do except separate him but then what if he still won't eat...?

Please help!!

Hexamita?

I’ve found that even sick fish will eat live brine shrimp most the time. Try that, also their filter feeders so you can gut load them with metr if you want to treat for hex. But id try them plain first.

I had a Festae 3 inch that didn't eat for almost 3 months. Just hid in a cave. Skin and bones. She came back though. Grew 10 inch

Took the vieja out and he is acting more normal now and actually almost ate some massivore delight yesterday. I guess the vieja was a good distraction from the female.
