they are soft water fishes but breed in neutral-hard water as well,
they can be bred in a ph ranging from 6.5-7.5, temp for breeding cichlids is 28-30C
 
dude I would not be surprised if you could get these guys to breed in a very wide range of PH as long as the water parameters stay consistent you should have no problems. They may be a little bit more sensitive if they are wild caught but I would still believe anything from high 6's to low 8's should suffice.
