I cant remember if i asked this but would a red terror be alrite in a 40 long by itself.I just bought a 40 and im dying to do something with it.It seems resonable.

should be good..

for the first year maybe 18 month but then it should move to something at least 18" wide and 6 feet long. Males can grow to 16" and females at least 12".

For future refrence, the foot print of a 110 and 90 are the same as the 75, the extra hight dosn't help fish much.

I vote a 4x24x24 or 6x24x24.

I would do it ;)

I believe at this time we have all forgotten what all different fish you have asked that can live in a 40 gallon also. I would say not for more then a year.

i would say a 75 should be fine for a bigger one. i would love to get one already grown to 7 inches or so. nice looking fish

it would be ok as a grow out tank.
if it's a female, it will be fine in there for a while. they dont grow as fast as other larger sized cichlids. eventually it will need something closer to 75g though.
IME, a male will grow faster and bigger, so i think a female would be a better choice.
i have my female in a 55g for now and has been for a few months. it will be moved into my 600g at the start of next year along with 3 or 4 other cichlids.
heres some old pics, the fish is now 9" (8" in the pics)
