hi i just started this monsterfishkeepers account so im new to this but i have some questions for you more experenced people. So i have 6 real red terror/festae cichlids there not myan. i was hopeing to get a pair from that are start breeding. i might be getting this 150g in the next couple of day and was thinking, i could throwing them in and if i get a pair maybe get some other fish in there aswell. i know festae are extreamly agressive expecually when breeding. but i was thinking of getting like 8 silver dollars just so the male or female wouldnt get picked on so much. and maybe one male salvini or sajecas or convict. i want something that can take a beating but also can dish it out a little. so if you guys can just give me some advice on what i should do i would greatly appreciate it thatnks!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Welcome to mfk! I would not throw in any cichlid with a breeding pair! Silver dollars is the best choice but still a gamble with festaes.

I need to spark up my fish life

Ok so if I get like 8 silver dollars that might be ok. I just wanna make It so the male or female wouldn't beat up on eachother and kill one another. You dont think Its a good idea to throw a male fish that gets max size 10 inches that can take a beating and also dish it out a little

Welcome!! I agree with the above. No other cichlids will be tolerated with a pair for the most part. SD's are something good to try...no guarantees if they breed though. 8 might be more than you need though. I have 6 in my 300 and they are about 4-4.5" inches and are pretty skittish in general.

Pretty much. Silver dollars are also pigs too lol. They really compete well for food. They do make great target fish for breeding pairs though as they are too big to be eaten and are generally fast enough to escape most beatings

Ok so that would be my best chance for keeping my breeding pair (if I get one) from bearing or killing eachother. And how much should I get. I know they do better In groups.

5-6 sd's in your tank should provide plenty of targeting and can actually help to "bond" a pair if you're lucky enough to get one. If you do get a pair. a divider with a hole cut only large enough for the female to escape to a part of the tank can be really helpful.

Ya I know about the divider I just didnt want to have to use it because I love to see the pair together and how they act. My biggest fear is one of them dieing.
