I have a female wild caught about 6in and a LFS has a male about 9in what are the chances of them pairing? I know it's a hit or miss and if I do get the male they will go in a community tank until they pair up then they will be alone. I do have a divider ready. Has anybody had success trying the blind date method? Would like to know people's experiences

Yes!! It's totally obtainable. And the community idea is a great idea. Go for it

Well I ended up getting the male but now that it's been in the tank for a couple of hours looks female.

Great looking fish, but I agree with your assessment on them being females there.

As for pairing them up, if you could have put them in a com tank with other tough fish it could work out that they pair (or decide that they hate each other), but you would have to be prepared to seperate them in an emergency as if they paired they could easily have gone and killed there other tank mates.

Lol.

Female festae are awesome looking though. I'd be happy.
